Dedication To William Adolphe Bouguereau
Although this is in my reproduction gallery, it is not, and neither is it intended to be a faithful reproduction of the master's beautiful work. Rather than a faithful reproduction I was seeking a fresh and lighter appearance, a hint of something a viewer might see, and where the artist might not - it happens sometimes as artists often paint themselves extremely critically, although I didn't see that with Bourguereau, he did seem to make his own portrait very sombre as opposed to his general works which are so full of color.
I have mixed the old classic look with a great deal of textural depth and a far lighter background with more modern colors in the face, but in an extremely sensitive way so as not to draw too much attention to it.
Dedication and attribution go to Mr Bourguereau!
