Welcome to my blog.  I'm not going to promise constant art posts because life is about far more than just art alone, although art is my life, I do enjoy many other things, some of which are totally the opposite of art.

Life is about variety, and here is where I'll share many thoughts; some big and some small.  I'm no great writer and don't purport to be one, but I really do enjoy being able to journal my many thoughts and experiences; some good, some not so good!

Whoever you are, and wherever you are, enjoy your life.  We only have one and I hope through this digital medium I can share some of mine with you.

Book Review : My Mother Munchausen’s and Me By Helen Naylor

Helen Naylor’s Audio Book, my Mother, Munchausens and Me is a non fictional account of the author’s experience in growing up loving her deeply disturbed Mother whom it appears had little to no love for her daughter, Helen.

I found it extremely easy to relate to Helen and empathize with what she endured from birth, throughout her growing years, and eventually her marriage and subsequent births of her own two children.

Despite Helen being a grown woman, Elinor, her Mother, still demanded Helen’s obeisance to her every wish and whim; never for one moment considering that her daughter was an adult with responsibilities of her own.  If anything, Elinor sought to continually interrupt Helen’s life with mind games and outright lies,  often leaving her feeling completely alone and bewildered, yet yearning for her Mother’s love and acceptance.

Helen Naylor’s audio book is narrated by the author herself,  and it’s as if she’s sitting across a cosy kitchen table privately telling the listener her story.

The beautiful intimacy Helen creates with her listener’s or readers, along with her ability to bring characters to life, made for an absolutely enjoyable experience despite the rather horrific events that are revealed after Elinor dies.

Book Review - Loss by Jane Lightbourne

I have tried many, many times to really get into this book’s depths but found I couldn’t feel any empathy for the characters.  Much of the writing is quite lyrical and pleasing, yet the actual storyline lacks in depth and strength.

Seriously, I think the author could rework this book herself and add more to the characters than their mere emotional issues.  Loss is a book worth saving because the writers gift of style is quite beautiful.

Book Review : He Loves Me She Loves Me Not

Emersyn Park’s book “He Loves Me She Loves Me Not” grabbed my full attention by the end of the short but intriguing prologue.  Very few books have the ability to gain a level of interest so quickly in a book, at least in my experience.

Lily is a daughter any mother would be proud of, but Lily’s Mother, Daisy,  is as amoral as Lily is pure.
I won’t lie, this book is quite disturbing as Daisy’s full nature and way of life are slowly revealed painfully, shockingly and methodically by Lily as she reads her Mother’s diaries.   The tension between Mother and Daughter is palpable, whilst Lily adores, and is adored by her Father in return.

Overall this book is intelligently written and I’ll most certainly be looking for more books by Emersyn Park.
A Highly Recommended read for Adults.

Beautiful Sound Of Silence

Beautiful Sound Of SilenceBeautiful Sound Of SilenceBeautiful Sound Of Silence is a painting that hangs on my own wall, so no, I won't be selling the original to this one :) I do have a few favorites I won't part with. This is not a literal reproduction, but comes as close as I think is truly possible. The original was painted by Avivazovsky who happens to be my absolute favorite artist along with Turner. Avivazovsky version was not called anything more than Winter Landscape, which it is, but to me it's much much more. There is a beauty that is beyond words, at least for me.
You will find these works in other galleries, but I also believe they deserve a gallery of their own in honor of the master's who taught me by the heritage they left to each of us. Many years ago I purchased the rights to print and/or paint from a select group of past Masters. In life, other than on internet, I have sold many of these as oil paintings and am only now deciding to release a few for purchase as prints, or merely for viewing pleasure. Many are freehand digitally painted, and others are oils, but I will not be releasing the original reference images I purchased as nothing of me went into those, and I see no honor or dedication in such. All took me over 100 hours each to faithfully reproduce to the very best of my ability; often with magnifying glass in hand. When studying, this was part of my fine art studies and for me, it is not only an honor to do, it has also been a massive and intensive learning curve. I hope you enjoy viewing these works reproduced by my hand in honor, and dedication, to past Masters who showed we artists to follow the light to fine art. Please contact me if you would like a reproduction work painted for you as I take commissions on a regular basis. I don't believe for one second I have done one of these Masters their due, but it was a most beautiful pleasure to try
